1英雄雙韻體(Heroic Couplet)
英雄雙韻體是一種英國古典詩(shī)體,由喬叟首創(chuàng )。由十音節雙韻詩(shī)體演化而來(lái),每行五個(gè)音步,每個(gè)音步有兩個(gè)音節,第一個(gè)是輕音,第二個(gè)是重音.句式均衡、整齊、準確、簡(jiǎn)潔、考究。拿四行詩(shī)的押韻方式為例,有abab型,有abcb型,有abba型,有aabb型,還有aaab型。第四種(aabb型)實(shí)際上是雙行押韻,英語(yǔ)稱(chēng)之為couplet,如果每行五音步,則稱(chēng)之為“英雄雙押韻”(heroic couplet);

音步是詩(shī)行中按一定規律出現的輕音節和重音節的不同組合成的韻律最小單位。英語(yǔ)文字是重音----音節型語(yǔ)言,因此有輕讀音節興重音節之分,它們是形成英語(yǔ)特有的抑揚頓挫聲韻節律的決定性因素。這是英文和英語(yǔ)在語(yǔ)音方面的區別之一。法語(yǔ)是音節型語(yǔ)言,音節沒(méi)有輕重之分,法語(yǔ)韻律的最小單位就是音節,而非音步。據統計﹕英詩(shī)中這種輕重音組音步﹔其余各種音步可以看作是從這五種衍生而出來(lái)的。這五個(gè)音步是﹕抑揚格,揚抑格,抑抑揚格,揚抑抑格和揚揚格。
現述如下﹕
1.抑格格音步 (iambic foot, iambus),即輕格或短長(cháng)格﹕一輕讀音節后跟一個(gè)重讀音節即構成抑揚格。它是英語(yǔ)本身最基本的節奏單位,也是英詩(shī)的最重要、最常用的音步。

首先要初步讀懂詩(shī),至少要看懂詩(shī)的大意,并根據理解進(jìn)行朗讀或實(shí)際或默讀,然后按實(shí)際讀出的音劃分出重音音節和輕讀音節,切要時(shí)還有次重音節﹔最后找出占多數的音步,進(jìn)行歸納劃分。一般來(lái)說(shuō),實(shí)詞(包括名詞、動(dòng)詞、副詞等),要重讀﹔虛詞(包括名詞、冠詞、介詞等),要輕讀。但實(shí)詞輕讀,虛詞重讀,虛詞重讀的情況也不少。切忌按固定的框框去硬套。如,知道十四行詩(shī)多是抑揚格,于是見(jiàn)到十四行詩(shī)就按抑揚格劃分音步,甚至照這樣的劃法來(lái)理解詩(shī)意和朗,這樣就本末倒置了,因為在實(shí)際應用中會(huì )出現許多變化。像莎士比亞在他的第116首十四行詩(shī)中,第一行就用了兩處揚抑格,兩處揚抑抑格,以表示對舊制度抗爭和對世人的勤戒﹕Let me︱ not to the︱ marriage of︱ true minds︱Admit︱ impediments.︱如果只是接固定的模式去硬套不同的詩(shī),劃分音步的義就不大了。劃分音步的目的之一是要看到詩(shī)人在一個(gè)總的韻律之內有那些變化。一般來(lái)說(shuō),凡是音步有變化的地方,都是較重要或關(guān)鍵的地方。這樣,回過(guò)頭來(lái)再讀這首詩(shī),就會(huì )有一些新的理解,體會(huì )到詩(shī)人的用意和運用變化之妙。全篇只用一種音步的詩(shī)是罕見(jiàn)的,當然兒歌一類(lèi)除外。還有一點(diǎn)需要注意的是,并不是所有實(shí)詞都重讀,所有虛詞都輕讀??紤]對詩(shī)的理解和韻律兩種因素,個(gè)別的實(shí)詞可以劃分為輕讀音節,有些虛詞可以劃分為重讀音節,這在日??谡Z(yǔ)中也不鮮見(jiàn)。即使是重讀得很重很慢,有的讀得較輕較快。這樣就出現所謂“主要重讀音節”(primary stress)和“次要重讀音節”(secondary stress)的區別。如I want to go 這句話(huà)有兩個(gè)抑扮格音步,want和go都是重讀音節。但在實(shí)際朗讀時(shí),want比go要朗讀得弱些,成為次要重讀音節。這句話(huà)應這樣劃音節﹕I want︱ to go.︱。又如,彭斯的詩(shī)句“我愛(ài)人像紅紅的玫瑰”應劃為﹕My love︱ is like︱ a red︱ red rose.︱原本是介詞的like,這里可以讀得重些,變?yōu)榇沃匾?,第二個(gè)red也成為次重音節。這行詩(shī)占主導地位的步音是抑揚格﹔最后一個(gè)音步是揚揚格,起了強調作用,其中的次重音讀音節增加了詩(shī)行的抑揚格頓挫音樂(lè )美感??傊畞?lái)說(shuō),不變中有變是一切藝術(shù)的規律,詩(shī)也如此。從本書(shū)其他各章節例詩(shī)的討論中,還可以具體看到一些各種音步變化所產(chǎn)生的不同效果
