在游戲中，你會(huì )發(fā)現城墻上都布滿(mǎn)了守衛，這是設計師對真實(shí)戰爭的一種理解，他們認為建造一個(gè)防御塔，在里面放置幾個(gè)射手是遠遠不夠的，真實(shí)的防御應該從城墻開(kāi)始，那里往往是突破口，也是攻城戰最激烈的位置，因此游戲中的城墻并不是一堵普通的城墻，城墻頂端的任何位置都可以派遣射手進(jìn)行守衛。為了體現更真實(shí)的戰爭，游戲并沒(méi)有士兵數量的設定，只要玩家擁有足夠多的資源就可生產(chǎn)出無(wú)限的士兵，設計師認為真實(shí)的戰爭就是人多欺負人少，只有數量存在差異性才能夠讓處于劣勢的一方采取合理的戰術(shù)來(lái)應付，這個(gè)設定也要求玩家必須合理控制資源和利用資源，游戲中還有很多設定與平常的即時(shí)戰略有所不同，，不管這些設定是否合理，但它們都是設計師們對戰爭的理解，目的就是為了呈現一個(gè)真實(shí)的戰爭。另外，雖然游戲中不存在英雄角色，但士兵存在等級系統，能夠在戰場(chǎng)中存活的士兵就是精英，他們的數據肯定要與普通士兵有所區別，所有士兵分為三個(gè)等級，輕型、中型和重型，士兵的武器也具有多樣化，玩家可為士兵們選擇武器，如斧頭、刀劍、弓箭等等，讓?xiě)饒?chǎng)變得更具有層次感。
