2、wc是什么意思

wc是Water Closet的簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)，國內指廁所。

很早以前，廁所Toilet里都有水箱water closet，人們一提到water closet就想到了toilet，因此water closet就成了toilet的代名詞。后來(lái)為了方便，人們就用water closet的開(kāi)頭字母W.C.來(lái)代替toilet。

WC詞義本身與toilet區別不大。Toilet這個(gè)詞來(lái)源于法語(yǔ)toilette，就法語(yǔ)“香水”一詞（l’eaudu toilette）也和Toilet有關(guān)，可見(jiàn)還是很有高雅的感覺(jué)。文雅的翻法把Toilet譯作“公共洗手間”。

WC的叫法在南美國家、法國、德國、荷蘭、瑞士等國仍在使用。

W.C.一詞是water-closet的縮寫(xiě)，其中closet一字本作“小室”解。

《二十世紀辭典》對water-closet的解釋是：一間用作儲藏的小室，“排出物”是用水沖走的。WC的意思，所以曾被廣泛采用。但是由于人人皆知WC所指為何，因此有些人認為不雅，便以其他較含蓄的字眼來(lái)替代，如lavatory,restroom,bathroom,toiletpowder-room等單詞，都可以用來(lái)指廁所。
