骨分為密質(zhì)骨(Campact one)以及多孔(cancellous)或松質(zhì)(trabecular)骨。密質(zhì)骨(Cortex)由致密的骨組織構成。其形成了骨的外殼和桿狀(shaft-like)的骨干(diaphysis)。與此相反,松質(zhì)骨因包含稱(chēng)為骨小梁孔隙(trabeculae spanning pore)的骨骨針而相對疏松多孔。疏松骨常見(jiàn)于骨端(epiphysis),即長(cháng)骨的終點(diǎn)部分。
