檸檬汁中含有大量檸檬酸，檸檬酸與鈣離子結合則成可溶性絡(luò )合物，能緩解鈣離子促使血液凝固的作用，可預防和治療高血壓和心肌梗死。所以可以起抗凝血作用。

在臨床上采取新鮮血液時(shí),需要加入一些消毒過(guò)的檸檬酸鈉或草酸鈉,就能起到防止血液凝固的作用,所以檸檬酸鈉和草酸鈉被稱(chēng)為抗凝血劑。

貯存于避光、密封、干燥陰涼處貯存。
