probable:

一般不要表示人的詞作主語(yǔ),如:It is probable that……
possible:
表達的可能性比較小,表示說(shuō)話(huà)者把握不大,事情成為事實(shí)的可能性不是很大。
有或許,也許如此,也許不如此的意思。強調客觀(guān)上的可能性。
一般不要表示人的詞作主語(yǔ),如果用表示人的詞作主語(yǔ),后面要接不定式。如It is possible to do something。
probable和possible的區別是什么
probable與possible譯成漢語(yǔ)時(shí)很難加以區分,但是它們在英語(yǔ)里還是有區別的:
前者所表達的可能性比后者大,并且推理的成分較重,表示說(shuō)話(huà)者有相當的把握,確信會(huì )成為事實(shí):
His success is possible, but not probable.
他獲得成功是可能的,但把握不大。
It is highly probable that he will take over his father's business.
他極可能接手他父親的生意。
不難明白,如果把句子里的probable改為possible,則說(shuō)話(huà)人那種深信不疑的口氣和把握性就會(huì )大大減弱。前面的說(shuō)明也適用于副詞probably和possibly:
