三者都是法律術(shù)語(yǔ)，基本含義都是證明、認可。

區別在于：

notarize譯為 公證；

certify譯為 認證；

legalize譯為 合法化或者公認；

懂法律的人現在就看得出區別了：

在現實(shí)生活中，人們往往將公證與認證混同，認為兩者是相同的。其實(shí)兩者有一定的聯(lián)系，但并不是相同的。

所謂公證是公證機構根據自然人、法人或者其他組織的申請，依照法定程序對民事法律行為、有法律意義的事實(shí)和文書(shū)的真實(shí)性、合法性予以證明的活動(dòng)。而認證是指外交、領(lǐng)事機關(guān)在經(jīng)過(guò)公證證明的文書(shū)上（或在其他組織的證明文書(shū)上），證明公證機構或認證機關(guān)（包括本國和外國的外交、領(lǐng)事機關(guān)）的最后一個(gè)簽名或印章屬實(shí)的活動(dòng)。亦稱(chēng)"外交認證"或"領(lǐng)事認證"。其目的，是使該文書(shū)發(fā)生域外的法律效力。

3、公證是一種國家證明行為，認證是一種民間商事證明。

而legalize是合法化：指合法性的客觀(guān)基礎被質(zhì)疑的時(shí)候達成關(guān)于合法性的某種共識的努力。
