　2008年夏天，陸太太的女兒媛媛在美國讀完了一年級，但陸太太開(kāi)始覺(jué)得不滿(mǎn)。

　陸太太成長(cháng)于嚴格的中式家庭教育環(huán)境中，就像被熱炒的“虎媽”一樣，她理所當然也希望女兒和自己接受大體相同的教育。女兒媛媛很小就開(kāi)始上一個(gè)離家很遠的華人私人幼兒園，媛媛在上小學(xué)前已經(jīng)學(xué)了很多，并養成了一些基本的學(xué)習習慣，媛媛自己也對這種方式很喜歡，覺(jué)得每天都過(guò)得“很有意思”。

　為了接受正規的中式基礎教育，陸太太沒(méi)有選擇使用西式教育的國際學(xué)校，而是選了上海一所實(shí)驗小學(xué)，學(xué)校對傳統的教育方法做了改進(jìn)，但也保留了傳統教育的一些精華。

　學(xué)校里的教育和陸太太想的一樣，從握筆、坐姿等細節開(kāi)始對孩子的習慣進(jìn)行規范。媛媛在美國時(shí)已經(jīng)算寫(xiě)字寫(xiě)得漂亮的孩子，回國后，老師還是說(shuō)她寫(xiě)的“8”字一定要糾正，如果8、6寫(xiě)不好，數字就會(huì )出問(wèn)題。陸太太覺(jué)得這正是她希望女兒學(xué)習的東西?！拔覀冎袊慕逃泻芏嗪玫牡胤?，并不是說(shuō)國外都是好的?！?/p>

　媛媛的作業(yè)不多，一般在學(xué)校做一部分，回家做一部分?！袄蠋熞幎ɑ丶易鳂I(yè)必須在半個(gè)小時(shí)內做完，最多四十五分鐘?！倍依蠋熞笕绻搅艘幎ǖ臅r(shí)間作業(yè)還做不完，家長(cháng)也要讓孩子停下來(lái)。每次做完功課，媛媛都覺(jué)得很有成就感。

　成就感還源自其他方面。媛媛成了學(xué)校的小主持人，學(xué)校也利用她流利標準的美式英語(yǔ)，錄英語(yǔ)朗讀帶領(lǐng)同學(xué)們跟讀，媛媛也經(jīng)常幫助同學(xué)練習口語(yǔ)。為了適應媛媛的學(xué)習進(jìn)度，校方在媛媛的課程上也主動(dòng)地做了些調整，她跟一年級上語(yǔ)文，數學(xué)跟二年級上，英語(yǔ)則上四年級的課。

　Edmond卻沒(méi)這么幸運。

　進(jìn)小學(xué)的第一天，因為完全聽(tīng)不懂老師說(shuō)的中文，Edmond哭個(gè)不停。一個(gè)心理課老師過(guò)來(lái)安慰他：“你怎么哭啊，你是男子漢！”可是沒(méi)有用，Edmond也不懂“男子漢”是什么意思，沒(méi)人這樣跟他說(shuō)過(guò)話(huà)。

　在加拿大，小孩子上課不用規規矩矩地坐著(zhù)，Edmond也沒(méi)見(jiàn)過(guò)一排排桌椅的教室，因此，最初回國的時(shí)候，坐在第一排的Edmond常常上著(zhù)課就走到講臺上去溜達一圈兒。

　盡管如此，一年級還算順利地過(guò)去了，期末考試，Edmond還拿了全班第一。

　“每一個(gè)孩子都是九死一生”

　但幾年之后，老余承認，他最初低估了國內的應試教育，直到親身經(jīng)歷后，才明白，這套機制究竟是怎樣的。
