鋁礬土的作用主要分為兩個(gè)方面，一個(gè)是金屬、另外一個(gè)就是非金屬。

　　金屬方面

金屬方面鋁礬土的主要作用就是生產(chǎn)鋁，畢竟金屬鋁在自然界中幾乎不會(huì )以自然鋁的形式存在，不是氧化物就是氫氧化物，而鋁又是世界上僅此于鋼鐵位居二位重要的金屬，所以理所當然的，分布范圍很廣的鋁礬土自然而然的就成為提煉鋁的原材料了。

　　非金屬方面

1、作耐火材料：鋁礬土熟料在工業(yè)上是常見(jiàn)耐火材料和防腐材料，其能忍耐的高溫在1700度左右，在一些電爐和高爐上，其耐火性能比普通的黏土耐火磚要好的多。

2、做鑄造涂料：將鋁礬土熟料加工成細粉后做成各種鑄造涂料，如消失模鑄造涂料等等，可用于軍事、航天、儀表等方面。

3、作為澆注料：將鎂砂和礬土熟料作為原料，加入適當結合劑，用于澆注盛鋼桶整體桶襯作用很不錯。

4、可用于制造研磨材料、礬土水泥、陶瓷工業(yè)以及化學(xué)工業(yè)可制鋁的各種化合物。

　　鋁礬土的價(jià)格

鋁礬土的價(jià)格一般情況下每噸是幾百元到上千元不等，根據粒度、等級的不同進(jìn)行劃分，當然其作用也是不一樣的，具體得視情況而定。

鋁土礦的主要用途

(1)煉鋁工業(yè)。用于國防、航空、汽車(chē)、電器、化工、日常生活用品等。

(2)精密鑄造。礬土熟料加工成細粉做成鑄模后精鑄。用于軍工、航天、通訊、儀表、機械及醫療器械部門(mén)。

(3)用于耐火制品。高鋁礬土熟料耐火度高達1780℃，化學(xué)穩定性強、物理性能良好。

(4)硅酸鋁耐火纖維。具有重量輕，耐高溫，熱穩定性好，導熱率低，熱容小和耐機械震動(dòng)等優(yōu)點(diǎn)。用于鋼鐵、有色冶金、電子、石油、化工、宇航、原子能、國防等多種工業(yè)。它是把高鋁熟料放進(jìn)融化溫度約為2000~2200℃的高溫電弧爐中，經(jīng)高溫熔化、高壓高速空氣或蒸汽噴吹、冷卻，就成了潔白的"棉花"--硅酸鋁耐火纖維。它可壓成纖維毯、板或織成布代替冶煉、化工、玻璃等工業(yè)高溫窯爐內襯的耐火磚。消防人員可用耐火纖維布做成衣服。

(5)以鎂砂和礬土熟料為原料，加入適當結合劑，用于澆注盛鋼桶整體桶襯效果甚佳。
