2002年11月，希捷科技股份有限公司（Seagate Technology）宣布推出高階效能型桌上型串行ATA系列硬盤(pán)——「Barracuda 7200.7」、「Barracuda 7200.7 Plus」，單碟容量突破性的達到80GB，并應用革命性的SoftSonic流體動(dòng)力軸承（FDB）馬達及串行ATA接口（Serial ATA）。

同時(shí)也提供并行ATA接口型號，電機轉速高達7,200 RPM，最大儲存容量160GB，配置2MB/8MB（僅Barracuda 7200.7 Plus）高速緩存，適用于高效能PC、游戲PC、成本效益網(wǎng)絡(luò )連接儲存、初階服務(wù)器和ATA RAID系統?！窧arracuda 7200.7」、「Barracuda 7200.7 Plus」硬盤(pán)最大儲存容量達到160GB，平均搜尋時(shí)間8.5毫秒。
